What you'll be doing:

The Benefits Manager is responsible for managing the organization's comprehensive benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, life insurance, disability, and wellness initiatives. This role supports the administration of benefit offerings to ensure they comply with all applicable laws and regulations, remain cost-effective, and align with business needs. The Benefits Manager oversees the annual enrollment process, benefits communication strategies, and vendor relationships, while serving as the primary liaison between teammates and external providers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefits Administration & Compliance

  • Manage the administration of all company benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement, and wellness initiatives.
  • Oversee the benefit enrollment process for new hires and open enrollment, ensuring a smooth and compliant experience.
  • Track eligibility status changes, such as leaves of absence, terminations, and retirements, ensuring accurate adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records, data feeds, documentation, and reports related to benefits administration.
  • Analyze benefits data, cost trends, and utilization to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership on benefits utilization, cost analysis, and program effectiveness.

Teammate Communication & Support

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to educate teammates about compensation and benefits programs.
  • Ensure benefits materials, policies, and documentation are clear, accurate, and up to date.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for teammates benefits inquiries, providing guidance and issue resolution.
  • Present Total Rewards information to internal audiences and support teammate understanding of benefit offerings.

Vendor Management & Process Improvement

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and benefits vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including benefit providers and compensation consultants.
  • Evaluate vendor performance, conduct regular audits, and resolve discrepancies to ensure data accuracy and plan compliance.
  • Seek continuous improvement opportunities in benefits administration, recommending enhancements with data-driven justification.

Audits, Reporting, & Cost Analysis

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure the accuracy of benefits enrollment data, premium deductions, and data feeds.
  • Evaluate benefits program cost-effectiveness and make data-driven recommendations to optimize spending.
  • Serve as backup support for leaves administration, workers' compensation processing, OHSA logs, ACA reporting, and other related functions as needed.
  • Prepare compliance-related reports and ensure data integrity in HRIS and benefits platforms.

Must Haves:

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field of study, or equivalent years of experience- Required
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration with knowledge of health and welfare plans, retirement programs and compliance regulations- Required
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to explain complex benefits topics to employees- Required
  • Experience conducting audits, benefits reporting and cost analysis- Required
  • Strong understanding of HRIS systems and benefits enrollment platforms- Required
  • Certified Benefits Professional (CBP)- Preferred
  • PHR or SHRM-CP- Preferred

The compensation for the Benefits Manager role is from $85,000- $110,000 based upon candidate expereince and market expectations.
